This weekend... was busy. It was anyhow a long week, full of run throughs and stage rehearsals. (There will be two premiers in the next ten days, -as well as the small gala I was in two days ago!) And because it was the one day last week when we didn't HAVE to be somewhere, Friday was free for us.

Lucky for me, Friday was also the very last performance of Giselle, which I rather wanted to see, at my old theater in Detmold. (And I will write the Review for that separately.) I therefor went down to Detmold in the afternoon, met with some friends, and went with Pamela to the theater in the evening. The dancers pressed me into joining them after the performance in the cantine, where we chatted and laughed for a little under an hour. After that I truly needed to get to bed because I was taking the 6:00 train in the morning.

Yep, I had to get back to Lüneburg for training and rehearsals. I then spent the rest of the day cleaning up my room, and cooking. Mmmm... the cooking. I made a pasta salad, and some bread with olives and sun dried tomatoes. -But I couldn't bake that at home because our oven isn't working. So it was a complicated procedure to get done.

Early the Next morning, Sunday, we were five dancers cozy in a car, driving four or five hours South to Giessen. This is a theater, (ok a town with a theater in it,) which holds a... dance festival-gala... erm... something. Each year. It is focussed on more modern dance styles, and has groups from all around performing. Heidrun, one of the dancers here in Lüneburg, had choreographed a piece to dance there both this year and last. Last year I was not a part of it though.

Anyhow, we had our hour to rehearse on the stage, and then a couple more hours to do as we chose in the town, and then the performance started in the evening. (And you can read all about that here: in my Review of Giessen Tanz Ost-West.) I was happy to meet a dancer I know from Nordhausen after the performance, and talked to her before we left. And we left... nearly at midnight. Then my poor, dear, wonderful fiancee drove an hour and a half to pick me up. There was no practical rout from Giessen to Lüneburg which would go over Detmold, so I was left in Kassel, the nearest to Detmold which we would come. Having my love drive for three hours, in the middle of the night, was the only way for us to be together; There were no more trains running which would take me close to Detmold, and she couldn't come and stay in Giessen with me, as her Grandmother was visiting, -for the first time in ten months.

But it all ended like this: we got to bed at perhaps three in the morning, and I got to spend the Monday holiday in the Münch family home, with Pamela, her parents, and the sweet old Granny. The day, but not the evening, because it was onto a train at 8 pm and back to Lüneburg for me.

And now I'm up to my neck in a long week again.

I can't wait for the summer.
