Well, I'm writing more now, (as I promised I would, at the end of the last entry.) And let me see... I got to Köln all right, and met Pamela, (my friend,) there right away, and had a lovely evening, eating, and talking with her, (and staying at her place.) -Best of all, she had Saturday free, and found it just as easy to drive me to Koblenz, as it would be to take me to the Köln train station, so I got a ride right to the theater. (although "Right To" might be misleading; I was there Once, three years ago, and though I remembered the part of town it was in, I couldn't recognise it, -Even when we drove right by it. So, we were driving around in circles for a bit.)
The training there... was all right. The whole company was not there, and it seemed to me that the people who were there, were a little tired, and not applying themselves entirely to work, but still, I felt that my level of dance was more or less on par with them. And it seems that there may be some free contracts there for men, next season. But... the Ballet director was not there, and the assistant director, (who taught class,) will not be working there next season, so she couldn't really tell me about working there, one way or the other.
But, it was good to see the dancers, and to talk with them, so I wouldn't say at all that my time there was wasted.
Besides that, there was a little surprise for me, because on that exact morning, an old colleague of mine from Detmold came to take class there too! So, I saw my old friend, and had a chance to catch up with her, and talk about the auditions and companies in Germany. And I asked Pamela, (Who was waiting for me, most kindly and thoughtfully, before we drove back to Detmold, where she goes for the week-ends,) -well, I asked her if we could drop off my old colleague, seeing as it was on our way. So, that all worked out, and we had a nice little chat in the car.
And there ends my Audition travels, I guess. Of course, there will be more, but not for a while... (I figure at least a week, :-) And this was the end of this past week of going all over. -Not that I am home yet: I went to Pamela's house for a late lunch, and now we had dinner, with her Family. (And there's some James Bond film playing, -In German of course. And I'm not realy paying any attention to it.) Well... That's all there is for now,
M.
