In the Skin of a Lion   by Michael Ondaatje

Jan 21 - 24, 2005.     A Christmas gift from my loving, book-addict Mother.

This was an interesting book. It's a work of fiction, although set amidst real events in Toronto history. It's mostly just the tale of one man's life, but there are a few pieces of other lives in there as well. (And these have a very nice effect of... complementing, -as opposed to contrasting with, the life of the protagonist.)

This book, (like the last few that I've read,) has no... meaning; Meaning in the way of Moral, or criticizing observations. (Perhaps just a little, but not as a major theme, which is felt throughout the book.) It's just... a well told story. And a mystery... to an extent, (but not a very deep extent.)

The story is well told, and I found it hard to put the book down. (Luckily for me, the book has major divisions when then story switches over to the life of one of the minor characters. In these places, I could turn my light off and go to sleep.) The characters were all vibrant, and I was emphatic with most of them.

Nice book. Worth reading.
