Goodnight
Limerick for Katrin

For/From Katja
(01.01.2004)

My Sweet! I'd have you live so glad
Not knowing grief, or fearfull pain
I'd give relief, when you felt sad
  And grant you happiness again.
If only I but know the way
I'd make you joyous every day.

And now you've found your heart's desire!
Your glee is glowing, more and more.
A man who sets your smiles on fire.
With him, you feel your spirit soar.
How great it is! To shine that way;
As light and bright as spring's first day.

My wish is granted, it would seem;
You smile just as I felt you should.
And just as I had dared to dream
Your feel content, complete and good.
and yet,
  and yet...
    and yet-
I so resent the awfull way
My fate has twisted on this day.

"Still Drunk. 1 am sept. 12th"
-for one I once desired.

Good night, and sleep well
  your body goes drifting
  Your mind goes off sifting
    through memories past -
And tales it will tell
  Of places you've travelled
  And stories unravelled.
    The night long they'll last.

And then, the day dawning
  with sunbeams so certain
  which shine through your curtain
like spears through the air -
Will fall on you, yawning
  your eyelids just twitching
  your consciousness switching
    from rest, to aware.

Think now, while you're reading,
  of how the time passes
  for both lads and lasses
    from April to May.
Our youth is receding
  And won't be returning
  So fill every yearning
    And seize every day.

Limerick for Katrin

A beauty I once loved in May
feels unmoved by the things one might say,
    And shrugs off an advance
    Won't respond to romance.
She's a will 'o the wisp in a way;

You pursue her with feverish haste
But no matter how fast you have raced
    it's foolish to hope
you could catch her, You dope!
She exists only For being Chaste.
