Well, I must say that things went better, after Monday.

On Tuesday morning, I got up easily, and went to breakfast. I was a little later than I meant to be, leaving, but not too late, and I found the Path across the field, so my clothes stayed all dry and clean. ("WHAT is this boy talking about?!" the uninformed may ask at this point. Well, just go to the Previous Entry to read about where I was staying.) Anyhow, I was a little late, getting to the theater and all, but it was just as well; Because it was a precise, and no-nonsense Door man there, who wouldn't let me in until the Ballet Assistant arrived. (Although, I believe that when she did, she told him that the boys coming to audition, should be shown to the changing rooms by the first dancer to walk in.)

Well, I then got to the change-rooms, and into the Studio, and the Ballet Assistant taught class. And I'd say that I did fairly well, (although my balance was shaky, but not too completely so.) Afterwards, she told me that there is a possibility, and that she'll have to wait until after the open Audition to be able to say. But, she said that she'd contact me one way or the other. So, I had a good feeling after that, and a positive outlook on the day.

I then went and ate in the canteen of the theater, -and spent the last 4 Euros in my wallet. So, I asked the door man where I could find a branch of Deutsche Bank, (which is what I use here. Hmm... and on the spur of the moment, I find it interesting that I've had accounts in Pacific Coast Credit Union, Toronto Dominion, Royal Bank, ING, Hansapank, and Deutsche. Six different banks. Anyhow, what is the normal number? For people who don't go hither-and-yon in the world?) And, (getting back to this story,) I was told that there's a huge, mega-branch right off the center square. Well, there I went, and walked around for about 15 minutes, looking for it, and asking people where it was. (and the few that thought they knew, sent me on false paths to get to it.) But, eventually, when I was JUST around the corner from it, I asked the people working in a Dance-Shoe-Shop, and they pointed right around the corner.

So, I was off to the train, and what did I see, as I passed the Theater? A little branch of my bank. Right across the street from the theater. (And didn't I feel like a fool!) The other thing beside the theater was... different. About a block away, there was a three story high sculpture of the head of... Carl Marx, (I think; I'm not all THAT familiar with the faces of the Workingclass revolutions.) And behind, there was an eight story high placard, saying "Working men of the world, Unite!", repeated in many languages.

It was... a different thing to see. Quite different.

Well, after circling once around the Train station, (Intentionally! Really and truly intentionally!) I got there, and called got hold of people in Halle, and Leipzig, and my friend in Dresden, and figured out a little more of my schedule... which started with my going to Halle, (Somewhere a little north of Leipzig.)

Here, I went to see a friend of my colleague in Detmold, who works in the theater, and understands the difficulty Dancers face, in auditioning. So, I was staying in her place that night, (and waited around, eating and reading, while she had her evening rehearsal.) Then... I watched a little of a video of Swan Lake, which was is in the repetoire here, (a partially modern version of it, which was not the choreographer's best work, in my opinion.) And, well, that was that day.

On Wednesday, I awoke early, (I mean Very early,) paranoid with the thought that I Have to get up early, and that I might have missed my alarm. And for two hours or so, I woke up every 10 or 15 minutes, imagining that my alarm had just started going off. (It was rather annoying, as I normally have no troubles sleeping!) Well, when I finally DID have to get up, I left quickly, and caught a little bit of breakfast at the train station, before departing for Leipzig.

Once there, I got easily to the park behind the theater, and saw that I was rather earlier than I intended. So, I walked around the park, and then made a complete circuit of the theater, with a detour to the far end of the square which lies before it, to look at an old, ornate fountain there. And then, what did I see, but a big frieze (is that what it's called? a bunch of carved human forms, in a pose?) -with a big face in the center, of Carl Marx again, (Or who ever it was.) This time though, the whole thing was only one story high, but it WAS enclosed in a huge Equilateral Triangle, (and for those who are interested in secret societies, or ancient symbolism, at the peak of this triangle, was a circle... an eye? In the form of an 8 spoked wheel. -But if you have no idea what the all-seeing pyramid is about... then don't ask: this is not the place for me to explain it.)

Well, somehow, I managed to burn up my extra 25 minutes, and then I went and did class, (after looking up at this clock-tower like a stupid tourist: they had a bell within a bell on top, with a two statues of -Workers! With a mallets, who hit the bells on the quarter hours.) And training was... about what could be expected: It was my third class, after our long break with no training in Detmold. -And it often seems on the third time back, that things just fall apart, and are substandard. And... -to be completely honest, I'm not at all good enough for that company. I must be much cleaner, and more perfect with Classical Ballet Technique, before I have a chance. (And The Ballet Master told me so, nicely, but honestly.) So, I have no delusions there.

Still, I worked my best, and was exposed to other dancers and all, so I don't think of my time and money as utterly wasted that day. Anyhow, I made some more phone calls, and found out that I wouldn't be going to Magdeburg, so, I went off to Nordhausen. And Why Nordhausen? (A Smaller city, about an hour west of Halle.) Well, two of my friends from last season are working there, so I went to see them, and stay the night, and see what they're doing.

Well, that night, I watched the dances they had in an Operetta, (Who's name I couldn't tell you, and I only saw the second half anyhow. So, I'm not writing any review for it.) OK... the dances were fine, and used the space well, (And I just don't care for dancing in Musicals or operettas. That's why I have nothing good to say about it; It was all fine, in was only the form of entertainment entirely that I'm indifferent to.) And it made me wonder somewhat... because it had the same kind of kinky costumes, and unnecessary undressing on stage, that I'd come to Associate with Detmold. (Even though having a pool was seemingly part of the play: There's no need for this one duet to end with both of them stripping off all their clothes, down to bathing suits, and then jumping in to it.) So, I thought that this sexuality in theaters might be a general German thing. But, on talking with people after, it seems that it's only this piece that's like that in Nordhausen; The others are, well, Normal.

Then, I stayed up fairly late, talking with Jeronimo, just like I did sometimes when I lived with him in Detmold.

And, The next morning, I was allowed to go and do modern class with them. (They have modern training once a week.) And this was rather interesting, considering that I haven't done that since... school, six years ago! But, I think I looked all right, (although obviously overly balletic.) I then watched a little of a rehearsal for their "Generation 80s", which is a mixed style piece, set to eighties music.) I don't know if I'd rather be dancing in Detmold or in that theater, but... it was something that I'll think about. I guess that I'd need to see more of their repertoire, to be able to answer that for myself.)

Then, away I went back to Halle, where I ate dinner in a Chinese restaurant, and then dropped my things off at the friend's place here. Now, (at the moment of writing this,) I'm in the boy's dressing room, while they're getting ready for the performance, and waiting for the box-office to open, so that I can go and get a ticket to watch the ballet tonight; Romeo and Juliet. We'll see how that is.

And that's my life... up to date.
